About Me
I was born in Ajax, Ontario but was raised in Okotoks, Alberta and consider it my hometown. I graduated from Foothills Composite High School in 2007 and began attending post secondary in Lethbridge the fall after graduation. In the Spring of 2012 I graduated from the University of Lethbridge with a Bachelor of Arts in History and applied to the U of L’s Education Faculty. I was accepted for the Fall 2012 term and am currently in my first Professional Semester. I have lived part time in Lethbridge for the better part of six years now and routinely refer to it as my second home.
Basketball was my biggest love for my entire adolescent life. I played it for over ten years, and began coaching children in the eighth grade. After high school, my basketball life came to a bit of a crossroads. I lost my love for playing the game, but realized I had a passion for coaching.
Coaching basketball and portraying a positive male role model for students is the reason I want to become a teacher. As a coach it has always been my goal to develop a positive relationship with all my players. One of my favourite things about coaching is that each new player I coach teaches me something different. As a teacher I believe it will be the same with students; they will always be teaching me, at the same time that I am teaching them. Coaching has taught me that no two children are the same. Each student possesses’ their own unique skill set that contributes to the team as a whole. I have never coached a player or taught a student who did not have something to offer.
Although the stresses of being a teacher seem overwhelming at times right now, I am excited to learn from the students and to grow as a young teacher.
