A Pledge to My Students
To all my students past, present and future, this is my pledge to you:
I pledge to provide a SAFE learning environment; one that will be open to students from all walks of life.
WE will accomplish this by RESPECTing each other’s opinions and always listening when someone else is speaking. We will not judge any person based on gender, race or ethnic origin; nor will we judge their social, economic, political, religious or family background.
I pledge that I will teach you more than just the curriculum that is required. I will never allow one of you to be left behind because each one of you has a UNIQUE rate of learning.
WE will accomplish this by being inherently unselfish. The VICTORs will pick up the defeated, the right will high five the wrong and the correct will assist the incorrect; for in the end we are all winners.
I pledge to make our classroom a FUN place to learn. It is my goal to make sure that even when it is time to be serious, you are working towards something enjoyable.
WE will accomplish this by playing educative games, and if we run out of ideas, we shall put our heads together and invent new ones. We will understand that there are times when we will need to be serious, but even then we will do it with a SMILE.
I pledge that I will always conduct myself HONESTly and with the utmost integrity.
WE will accomplish this by expecting me to make MISTAKES, and then assisting me with their correction. WE will never lie, cheat or steal.
Finally, I pledge that it will never be about ME. It will always be WE.
WE will make OUR classroom SAFE by treating each other with RESPECT.
WE are ALL winners in OUR own UNIQUE way and WE will celebrate each individual VICTORY as if it were OUR own.
WE will conduct OURselves with HONESTY and integrity; never afraid to admit we made a MISTAKE.
Most importantly WE will have FUN, and never enter or exit our classroom without a SMILE.
To all my students past, present, and future, this is OUR pledge to EACH OTHER.
