Today was a very informative day. I have always been amazed by the potential for the SMART board but have never had any experience using it. Today I got that experience in our lecture and am very excited about using it in my classroom. Specifically the balloon pop attendance idea was very appealing too me and a great way to get students involved at the beginning of the day.
In Education we are learning that the more we can put students in charge of their own learning, the more effective we will be at actually teaching them the material we intend to cover. This has specifically been a theme in Evaluation and Assessment class. As a young coach and aspiring teacher this is something that I really believe in. Although it will take time and experience in order to figure out how to use this knowledge most effectively, I am excited about the possibilities it will bring.
As a side note I also learned that Foster's Australian beer is an export, and not actually considered good quality beer. (courtesy Matthew Crosby, dual-citizen to be and consumer of "excellent Australian lager.")
