In today's class we discussed the concept of video conferencing and how it can be used in the classroom to further student learning. This was just a great lesson in all. We got to watch another interview with Mrs. Deyenberg (blog lady extraordinaire) and she discussed all of the cool things she used video conferencing for. Ideas such as Skyping with classrooms around Canada in order to interview them about the areas they live as a way of studying different geographical regions. Once again I feel like her ideas are nothing short of brilliant. If I had different educational friends in different areas of the country I would absolutely explore opportunities to interview those classrooms around the country as a way of exploring things outside my school's community.
We also had a virtual tour of the Royal Tyrrell Museum that was all kinds of fun. Adriene Jameson was the lady's name that conducted the tour and she was fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable and used humour to be very engaging. I think this type of tour would be a big hit with children in the classroom and will absolutely consider using her in the future.
